Artist Statement
The contextual developments of my figurative collections emerge through the expression of two linked ideas. The primary idea is an act of reflection and self-exploration. I am the model, the designer, the painter and the viewer. The cyclical creative process revolves around the self, providing a multi-lenses frame for reflection and analysis of my own identity. It is an act of inward journey, exposing and exploring strengths and weakness of my self-perception. This looking within is the springboard for me to jump to a larger exploration of interpretations and narratives of gender in history and society. Thus, these two linked ideas conjoin and interplay within my collections to present a dialog between self, society and the viewer.
